Patagonia Organic cotton slub poplin has all the characteristics the original poplin has with more textured face and additional durability because of the slub yarn to make the shirt last longer.  

My Grandma used to talk about poplin shirts when I was young and I have no idea what kind of shirt it is. One thing that I know for sure is that it was very popular and something significant back then. I did not manage to ask my grandma what is poplin shirt. A talk about poplin shirts among the people has gone along with my childhood time. Our generation, generations after us have become lesser interested in how the fabric is weave and how it is important. 

This year,, Outdoor Life decided to bring in the shirts made of organic cotton slub poplin fabric from Patagonia. When the shirts arrive at our store at Funan.sg mall #02-20. It answered all my questions that I had as a child.  

I would like to explain a brief history and how it becomes so popular back in the old days. Poplin was created back in the 15th century in France city called Avignon, which is the residence of the pope at that time. Some say it was created to honor the pope because it is soft to touch, drape very well on the body, and very durable. Because of its abilities, it has become a major fabric for uniforms for the soldiers. Back in my grandma's time, it was an era of war. After the war era ends, it has moved on to the dress shirt to wear to work because of these abilities stated below -

- Durable and strong, tear-resistant

- Cool and lightweight

- Soft to touch

- Lustrous face

- Subtle Sheen

- very comfortable

- Does not wrinkle easily

- Does not stain easily

- Waster resistance

It is an amazing fabric, isn't it?

When we talk about poplin, it is not about the material. It is about how it is weaved. it can be cotton, silk or wool, or polyester blend. it used two different thickness yarn to weave to create its texture and yarns are weaved tightly to have a soft and smooth feeling.
