This is no ordinary story. The mountaineering pursuit is unmistakably niche, and even more so for those of us hailing from a country with no mountains, such as Singapore. But for twenty years now, a small community, affectionately known by our tagline ‘Make It Real’ (MIR), has been the gateway to the mountains for young, aspiring mountaineers. 

In 2001, MIR launched its very first student-led expedition alongside the Singapore Xixabangma team. Several years later, we put the first born-and-bred Singaporean on the summit of Everest, and several of our members also went on to form the Singaporean Women’s Everest Team. Every year since we have continued bearing witness to more youths passing through our gates and pushing the boundaries of what may be possible across peaks all over the world. 

Conjuring Mountains is our story, where we relive our heydays and celebrate the unsung heroes and defining moments that have made this journey more than any of us could have imagined. This is a story for everyone who has walked through our doors, the avid climber, the curious adventure-seeker, and the soon-to-be-inspired.
