Savotta, founded in 1955 in Finland, has spent nearly seven decades proving one thing , durability isn’t a design choice; it’s a way of life. No gimmicks, no shortcuts, just gear that works when the conditions don’t.
It all began in 1955, when Allan and Marjatta Halme founded Pylkönmäen Nahkatyö — later to become Savotta.
In those early days, they made durable gear for loggers: gloves, bags, and backpacks. The focus was clear from the start — build gear that lasts.

After World War II, the company grew quickly and began producing backpacks and bags for recreational outdoor use.
In the 1960s, Pylkönmäen Nahkatyö was renamed Savotta Retkeilyväline (Savotta Hiking/Outdoor Equipment), taking its new name from the Finnish word savotta — meaning a logging site or operation.

As the product range expanded to include tents, demand for large external-frame hiking backpacks also began to rise.
Around this time, Savotta started collaborating with the Finnish Defence Forces, designing and manufacturing tents and load-carrying systems for military use.
In the 1970s, the company name officially became Finn-Savotta Oy, and the business continued to grow.
Allan and Marjatta’s daughters, Anita and Riitta, took over operations, carrying the legacy forward.
In 2016, ownership was passed down once more — this time to Anita’s sons, Elmo and Julius, continuing the family tradition into a new generation.

100% Savotta product is proudly made within the EU. And 97% of materials are also sourced from within the EU, ensuring full traceability, ethical production, and unmatched quality control.
Each pack, tent, and frame is designed for real-world use: field-tested, refined, and rebuilt over time.
Whether it’s a Jääkäri backpack, a modular tent system, or a versatile load-carrying setup, every detail is crafted for one purpose: reliability under pressure.

Savotta lives by a simple motto: “Made to Endure.”
Sustainability at Savotta isn’t marketing talk , it’s responsibility in action.
By keeping production local, using durable materials, and ensuring products are repairable, Savotta builds gear meant to last for decades , not just seasons.
When you buy a Savotta pack, you’re not buying into a trend, you’re investing in something built to outlast it.

Function Over Fashion – Every pocket, strap, and buckle has a purpose. Nothing unnecessary.
Confidence in Every Stitch – From long expeditions to everyday commutes, performance is never compromised.
Part of Something Real – Carrying Savotta isn’t just owning a backpack — it’s carrying a piece of Finnish outdoor heritage, built by people who live the life they design for.

Choose your load wisely: For heavier hauls or overnight trips, go for the Jääkäri M with internal frame support.
Maintain regularly: Check straps, stitching, and metal fittings — good maintenance means long life.
Clean gently: Use mild soap and lukewarm water, and always air dry away from direct sunlight.
