How to layer for the slopes
Whether you ski or snowboard, start with a base layer that wicks sweat, add a warm mid layer such as a [fleece] or [down jacket], then finish with a waterproof, breathable jacket and pants. Don't forget [gloves], a beanie and a [neck gaiter] to keep the cold out on the lift.
Shell or insulated jacket?
A shell gives you more flexibility: layer up on cold days, strip down in spring. An insulated jacket is warmer and simpler if you feel the cold or only hit the slopes a few days a year. Snowboarders often prefer a slightly longer, roomier cut for more movement and better coverage when sitting in the snow.
